Wilkes Chamber Announces Inaugural Clay Classic Fundraiser at the New Hidden Brook Sporting Club
North Wilkesboro, NC — The Wilkes Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce its First Annual Wilkes Chamber Clay Classic, set to take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This exciting event marks not only the Chamber’s first clay shooting tournament, but also the public’s first opportunity to experience a tournament at the brand-new Hidden Brook Sporting Club, a shooting facility recently opened in North Wilkesboro. The facility is one-of-a-kind in the region, with no comparable venues for miles, making this tournament a must-attend for outdoor sports enthusiasts across Northwest North Carolina.
Why Shotguns for Women Matter
Whether you’re a seasoned hunter or someone just starting out, the right shotgun fit can make or break your experience. A well-fitted gun helps improve accuracy, reduces fatigue, and can even make shooting more enjoyable overall. This is especially true for women, whose unique body mechanics—like longer necks, higher cheekbones, and smaller frames—often go overlooked in standard shotgun designs. At Hidden Brook Sporting Club, we encourage all shooters to take the time to find gear that works for their body. Comfort and confidence are key ingredients in becoming a successful and safe shooter.
Ladies’ Night… But Make It Clay! Why Our Resort Is Part of a National Trend You’ll Love
Have you seen the recent Wall Street Journal story titled “Ladies’ Night at the Gun Range”? It’s a fascinating look into how shooting ranges across the country are transforming—shedding the old “gritty and grim” vibe in favor of upscale experiences that feel more like a country club than a concrete bunker.
But here’s the fun twist: you don’t have to be into firearms to be part of this movement.
Right here at our open-to-the-public clay shooting resort, we’ve been building something similar—a welcoming space for community, connection, and unforgettable experiences. From our Ladies’ Nights Out to private events, group bookings, and weekend escapes, the focus is the same: offering outdoor fun in a beautiful, relaxed environment that’s as much about camaraderie as it is about clay targets.

Construction Underway at Hidden Brook Sporting Club
Construction began earlier this year at Hidden Brook Sporting Club, setting the stage for a top-tier shooting destination in Wilkes County’s Blue Ridge foothills. Crews have been clearing trees across our 285-acre property, shaping paths for sporting clays, Five Stand, skeet, and trap ranges, and marking stand locations to leverage the rugged terrain. A welcome and registration tent has been in place, greeting early visitors as progress unfolds. Founders and instructors Kelly and Tracey Dickson beamed: “Seeing the land evolve into a shooter’s paradise is beyond exciting—we’re eager for what’s ahead.” With work already rolling, HBSC is on track to become a must-visit spot for all shooters.
