Monthly Fly Tying Night
Date: First Wednesday of Each month | April 1 – December 2 Whether you’re brand new to the vise or looking to sharpen your skills, this monthly fly-tying class is designed to be hands-on, relaxed, and fun. Each session focuses on a specific technique and pattern, with step-by-step instruction you can immediately put to use on the water. We’ll cover everything from foundational skills to advanced tricks, with plenty of time for questions and one-on-one help. Bring your vise and tools, show up ready to tie, and leave with new flies, new confidence, and a few new tricks in your kit.
Cast & Blast Experiences
Call for Pricing Experience a full day of adventure at Hidden Brook. Start with hot coffee and a hearty breakfast before enjoying a morning of fly fishing on tranquil, trout-filled waters. After a delicious lunch, take on the Sporting Clays course for an exciting afternoon of shooting. Wind down with a warm beverage and great conversation.
Guided Experience (Private Access – Helton Creek)
4 or 6-Hour Experience – Enjoy a guided experience at Helton Creek with private-access instruction in a scenic, low-traffic setting. These sessions are designed to provide a focused, relaxed experience on the water with direct guidance throughout. Private access helps create a more comfortable and enjoyable environment without the feel of a busy public area.
Guided Experience (Public Waters)
4 or 6-Hour Experience – Enjoy a guided experience at Helton Creek, Watauga River, Roaring River, or Mitchell River with instruction provided at a public access point in a scenic, shared setting. These sessions are designed to offer a supportive and engaging time on the water with clear guidance throughout. While the area is open to the public, the experience is structured to help you feel comfortable and confident as you learn, even in a naturally active environment.

Beginner Fly Fishing Course
Date: March 14 – This full-day Introduction to Fly Fishing class is a hands-on experience designed to take beginners from zero to confident on the water. Students learn essential gear knowledge, casting fundamentals, rigging, fly selection, and basic entomology through a mix of indoor instruction and outdoor practice. In the afternoon, everything comes together with guided, instructor-supervised fishing time where students set up their own gear and receive individual coaching. By the end of the day, participants leave knowing what to practice, how to troubleshoot common issues, and how to continue their fly fishing journey on their own.
Art of Fly Tying
Date: January 17 | January 24 | January 31 – This class gives new tyers a solid foundation in the essential skills of fly tying—from understanding the anatomy of a fly to handling tools and materials with confidence. You’ll learn how to maintain proper proportions, manage thread control, and finish each fly cleanly and professionally. Each session builds on the last, guiding you step-by-step until you’re confidently tying three classic, highly effective patterns by the end of the course.
