______ HEAD ANGLER

Ron Randle

Fly fishing has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life for more than twenty-five years. In my role as Fishing Manager at Orvis Huntersville, I spend each day helping people discover the sport, build confidence, and connect deeply with the outdoors. Teaching and sharing fly fishing has become the part of my work day I enjoy most. As a certified fly fishing instructor, I try to bring a welcoming, positive approach that helps anglers feel comfortable from the very first cast.

My connection to fishing goes back to childhood on the south side of Chicago, where summers meant fishing the lakes and rivers between the city and Door County, Wisconsin. But the moment everything truly changed was the first time I stepped into a river with a fly rod. I felt instantly connected—to the water, the landscape, and the rhythm of the sport. That moment put me on the path I’ve followed ever since.

Over the years I’ve been fortunate to fish remarkable waters across the US and beyond—the Green, Gunnison, and Truckee Rivers, the Ketchikan in Alaska, the flats of Belize, countless North Carolina streams, and classic Pacific Northwest waters like the Mackenzie, Metolius, and Crooked Creek. These experiences shape not only how I fish, but how I teach.

Before joining Orvis, I spent decades as an award winning creative director in the advertising industry. It taught me how to design experiences, communicate clearly, and create programs that feel intentional and memorable—skills that translate surprisingly well to building a high-quality fly fishing program.
